President's Update

APICS Purget Sound Chapter, was fortunate to host the Pacific Western District meeting here in Seattle. The Pacific Western District has chapters from the States of Washington, Ore,gon, California, Idaho, New Mexico and Arizona.    We were honored to have William Bickert, chair of the 2016 Board of Directors and Jim Lahey, executive leader of Global Channel services present. We learned that APICS-Headquarters has announced a change in membership.  There are now two types of members; Plus and Core.  The Plus membership is designed for those seeking certification during the coming year and will have a slightly increased price.  The Core membership is for those not pursuing additional certification and will have a slighly reduced annual cost. Of course, the new CLTD (Certified in Logistics, Transportation & Distribution) was shared, with mention of the reduced incentative rates for course material and testing between Oct 1, Dec 31st 2016.  The APICS-PS chapter will begin offering classes for CLTD preparation in January 2017.

Your APICS-PS chapter was recognized as the Outstanding Chapter for this quarter by the Pacific West District Leaders.  This award was given to recognize all the work that has been accomplished during the 2015/2016 fiscal year.  Our chapter also hosted the Argosy Cruise and Pier 55 and the Mariner game the following night.

Please note that there is a Member Appreication BBQ coming up on Aug 25th at Gas Works Park.  Feel free to bring family members, as all food is supplied by APICS-PS.
